The One Minute Pitch

Stringline productions presents 'Mortal' an independent indie take on a teenage drama. This short film takes on the genre conventions of the loss self - control, the cocky confident male protagonist and an element of breath taking tragedy. The budget for 'Mortal' is in the vicinity of £400,000 and is expected to make a profitable £600,000. The target audience is teenagers and young adults of both genders, due to the protagonist being a teenager himself resulting in audience identification. The film will be a 15 certified film due to themes of alcohol and drug use, as well as strong language through out. 'Mortal' is the story of a teenage boy who becomes intoxicated with drugs and alcohol after attending an out of control party. The film is filmed through the point of view of Josh, who is the camera, as his body begins to take over him, whilst walking home, thanks to the over use of drug and alcohol consumption, thinks go from bad to worse ending in the interpreted death of Josh on behalf of the audience. The sequence occurs as the ending of the film.

The Synopsis

We see first hand from the point of view of teenager Josh and his friends how a Saturday night to remember becomes a Sunday morning that will never be forgotten. A teenage house party hits extreme boundaries as all embrace the easy access of booze and drugs. Josh goes one step further and entertains himself with an unexplained, newly developed drug. The effects of alcohol begins to take its toll on the walk home from this all out house party. Feeling invincible, with drugs and drink running through his veins, Josh soon looses control of his body and things only get worse.

Summary of Brief

We have been set a brief to create a film sequence no longer than 2 minutes long, the film sequence can be a full short film or a part of a film.
